I actually believe that savvy busniesses do this (or at least should do this) at times to drum up traffic to their sites. They cut their margins to balloon sales which will bring potential residual sales in the form of the vac bags which have to have much higher profit margins.

I was in the same boat. I ordered a lem#8 .35 horsepower big bite grinder (new in box) off eBay last night. After discussing with the wife that I'm tired of borrowing equipment. She said "buy all your own than!" I responded with "don't mind if I do!" Christmas in October!

My order status shows as "Authorized" while many folks on the slickdeals forum report a back ordered status. As I alluded before, the "slickdeal effect" can crush retailers with a excessive amount of orders. It wouldn't surprise me if received thousands of orders within just a few hours. This isn't uncommon and may take some time for Foodsaver to get orders fulfilled.

Ah the dreaded cancellation email. Unfortunately this happens a lot with price mistakes on sites. Many complain and try to fight it but there really isn't much you can do.

I received a shipping notice this morning, but I ordered when the price was $149. My order status had previously said backordered, so maybe a bunch of people backed out when they found out the price was not $75.

Yeah I got the 40% off email to. I went ahead and bought it with the discount. Comes out to $119.99. Still a good deal.
