It depend on the grind of the lime how fast it will work, if you can get the Ag lime applied that is the best bang for the buck, pel lime is easier for some people to handle. Pel lime is instantly available but if your test are really low you will not see a response. On soil test as a general rule of thumb you try to get a ph around 6.2 to 6.4 your P or phosphorus around 45 lbs or 90 ppm and your K or potassium around 330 lbs or 660 per acre, if you got to your local farm store and look at fertilizer bags you see a number such as 12-12-12 the first number is nitrogen the second number is P and the third number is K. It take approximately 4 lbs of P to raise soil test 1 lbs and 7 lbs of k to raise soil test 1 lbs. depending on where the Ag lime comes from 1 ton will raise soil test .2, hope this helps everyone oh and if you end up putting to much nitrogen on the turnips will not put on bulbs
