Folks?

It all started when kids started listening to that damn rock music and smoking reefer. Back in my day we had a little RESPECT for our elders I tell ya'. Hold on, I think I hear kids playing outside, I need to go yell at them from my porch.

What life choices did you all make that made your life so easy that you have the ability to pay this close of attention to how many times a word is used?
Brother, Im just trying to keep my head above water .

Once you get done doing that…come back and bitch about how kids just don’t want to be outside anymore.

I'm pretty sure in the upper south, "folks" is a part of about everyone's daily language. I don't hear many people use it to label their parents.

Parents=Parents
Folks= basically anyone that isn't oneself.

In the deep south, it's probably used for parents more than around here.

It's not the new cool word. That would be "fam".
My mother in law uses this, the “fam jam” “what’s up fam”. I despise it.

Folks is used for people’s parents, my Brent’s, or older generation. I guess I haven’t seen that used around here much personally, besides the meanings I pointed out

Dad blamed everything on the Beatles because they started all that longhair crap.

I’m an old timer . 63 going on 80.

I been using the term folks for just about all of them years. Glad to hear it’s cool.

I think I was the only kid in my class that listened to country music in the 70s. That got cool as well it seems.

Dang maybe I’m a trend setter.

You think being fat and out of shape will every be cool.

I have used folks all of my life. Not overly frequently. I haven't noticed it becoming commonplace.

Nothing chaps my ass like the pervasive use of "and so." No goddammit, use one or the other.

I also hate when "individual" is used in the place of person, man or woman. Why use the word "individual?" Is that to distinguish them from conjoined twins?
