FNG in MD

Hi all. I've been a casual lurker for a few years and figured it's about time to say hello and get more involved.

I'm originally from MD and just moved back (from CO). Living in Harford now. I'm planning to hunt what I can in the MD/PA/WV area (public land only, at the moment) and make a trip back west at least every 2 years...likely MT or ID.

Still haven't gotten an elk, so that is definitely a priority. I'm mostly interested in big and small game, not much of a waterfowler.

Hoping to meet some good folks out this way who have an interest in scouting and hunting state & national forests.

Thanks. Hah! I knew better...WV or PA was the goal. Initially moved to PA, which was a terrible idea, so MD became the fall-back. Always said I'd never come back to MD proper...funny how things work out sometimes.

I know what you mean...I "hunted" my back yard last fall too, which I like that I can do, but don't like that it's basically the only local option. Going to try Michaux this year.

I'm in Frederick County. There is some nice public land to hunt out this way.

Howdy, neighbor. It sure is awesome looking out your way. I haven't spent any time in the woods in that part of MD other than Cunningham Falls as a kid but I thought it was all parks. Is there huntable public land?

Yes there is, Frederick watershed has a lot of huntable land. It’s not the easiest place to hunt but it is the closest thing to big woods hunting there with out going past Hagerstown
