Hi everybody,

Jack here. I'm getting started in this whole western hunting thing a little late in life. (49). I appreciate all the info you guys provide. A lot of knowledge on this forum without all the BS! That is very much appreciated. Been lurking for a while before deciding to post this.
I've never killed an elk and that is my complete focus right now. Starting to get a pretty good gear list together for my needs which will be 1 to 2 weeks max a year. My next item is a tent. Probably a 3 man since I will usually be hunting with my buddy.

I'm originally from a small town called Gilman very close to Bethany. My hunting land is up there.

Welcome! I'm not far, just up the road and over in Nebraska. You know, "The good life" state. And you're old enough to remember when we played football in this this state. LOL.

Lol! Yes, and now everyone around here hates Nebraska and Mizzou.

Rightfully so I imagine.

I was at the 2003 game in Columbia when Mizzou beat Nebraska for the first time in forever (maybe longer than I had been alive, can't remember). It was pandemonium! Goal posts came down and everything. Didn't know if I was going to make it out alive. That's the year Coach Solich got fired for only 10 wins...

I was also at the K-state game when they beat us for the first time in like 35 years. Goal posts came down that night too. I started thinking I was bad luck!

Nebraska has had some incredible teams. Beating them was anyone in the Big 8 or Big 12's national championship. Lol

I was at that MU game, and possess a piece of that goal post. Great memory there! M-I-Z

Thanks everyone! ElkGuide I'm already addicted. We somehow got a Colorado Bull to leave his cows for a second and come scream at us last year and had a couple close calls with 5x5's. My wife has complained about my monthly credit card statements ever since!
