At my age it is hard to consider myself a FNG. I once had a guy come to my team that immediately told everyone he was not the FMG because he had been there before. I told him him I didn't care, no one on the team knew him so he was the FNG...

I live just about dead center in the Schwarzwald (Black forest) and about 35 Km from the French/German border. I spend as much time as possible hunting Rotwild (Stags), Schwarzwild (boars) and Reh (Roe deer). Fortunately this means 12 months of hunting possibilities every year and is part of my decision to retire here after my military and civilian service.

My other hobby is cruising through Southern Germany in my toy.

The car is a Fordenstein. Jan 65 production, block is a 79 302 from god knows what. Motor is full of other makers stuff. Lunati cam, AFR heads.... I have put about $4k into the front and rear suspension to make it go around corners nicely. The TA radials are crap for driving but I have hem on the car for the winter. In the summer I run Michelins.

Gas mileage is not too good! I had a single Holley 4bbl but switched out a couple or years ago, there is a steep learning curve to tuning the Webers.

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member from Germany.

P.S. You sir, are the recipient of the elusive, and often coveted, FNG ⭐ for the day due to your excellent intro, my first offical welcome from Germany (that I can remember but I'm old :ROFLMAO: ) and you have a great car. Well done all around.

Welcome! Just finishing a week long trip in Bonn/Cologne and head back to USA tomorrow. Stumbled on the first day of Cologne Carnival and that was fun. I've seen a few american cars here and I'm sure you get lots of positive attention with the mustang.

I spent most of my military/civilian career outside of the US. Lived over 25 years in Germany (mostly Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemburg) and visited more than 40 other countries for work. My wife works for an international bank in Hessen (Frankfurt) but fortunately is able to telework. her family is from Konstanz so we spend a good bit of time down on the Bodensee (Lake Konstanz). I took the Hirsch (Stag) head I use for my avatar two weeks ago about 2 km from my house, I live right on the border of the Schwarzwald National Park. The professional hunter for the park is a member of my shooting club so invites to hunt are not rare....

Welcome !!! I spent some time in Germany 1963 to 1966. Kaiserslautern, Zweibrucken, and Landstuhl. Loved Germany. Came back to the US during the Hippie crap, love beads, etc. Wanted to get back on the plane and go back.

Welcome and HUGE respect putting down-draft Webers on a Ford engine! Damn....

That is a beautiful Mustang! Our family kept my grandmother's '65 until rusted chunks were dropping off of it every bump.

Hunting and classic car welcome to Rokslide!

Nothing against you or your family but I am battling with a gunsmith in that area (Illertissen). I was forced to take a Shiloh Sharps to the proof house to get a German proof on it. It failed because the chamber was too tight in all dimensions (SAAMI vs CIP). This forced me to give it to a German gunsmith to re-cut the chamber. This guy was recommended by GeBu (big BP gunshop) (both close to the Ulm proof house). I took the gun directly there back in mid June. After numerous email the gunsmith finally called two weeks ago, the rifle is ready. I ask how much and he tells me 450 Euro!!! I ask if he put a new barrel in. He says no but he had to go back to the proof house 4 times before he got it right. I do not understand why he could not get it right the first time. I call the head gunsmith at the proof house and he says I should get a very detailed bill, he also will not say anything bad about the gunsmith..... nothing good either! I requested a bill back then per email and also asked GeBu for clarification. Both are now ghosting me. Tomorrow I will print the emails and send them registered snail mail.

One good thing is the gunsmith at the proof house is an old car car so I have made a new car contact as a result of this.
