I just wanna know if you replaced the dude's shooting sticks?

Shooting sticks, who uses crappy shooting sticks? Learned better practices. Two years ago killed a bull off hiking poles and backpack, this last year was tripod and hiking sticks in rear.

That guy moved away and I lucked into a really solid hunting partner.

Apparently you try to...or tried. Seriously, you didn't replace his "broken shooting sticks" after he tried to help you and lost his chance at a shot?

They weren’t broken, just not assembled well, the top that fell off was picked up and put back on.

You were wrong, the app spit out garbage because it was setup wrong.

I can’t count all the ways I screwed up that year. Took it heart and made it a mission to do better. In retrospect the wind wasn’t as strong as I thought, would have pushed bullet a little, but should have been in vitals, I’d still bet it was based on the blood trail. Should have given the elk longer before following.

Honestly, that story probably ends with a grip and grin just by using a better bullet. Less drift, higher impact velocity, bigger wound channel. All Barnes suck, but especially the 165 tsx.

Also, lots of you need to check the date of the original post. The op has really upleveled himself over the years.

Interesting read, new member & short time on the site but so far not suprising that human nature spawns far more "success" posts here then failures. Making mistakes....no fun, sharing them....almost less fun. Hats off to you for going there....many don't. Sounds like you're well down the trail of learning from them. Preparation and experience certainly minimizes them over time but there's always the wildcard everpresent to short the circuit boards......adrenaline, sometimes friend, sometimes foe.......not sure I'd want it any other way. Best wishes in the great outdoors!

5 years out, I’m finding new mistakes to make and new adventures. Point of the post was to try and save others from making some of the same mistakes also be able to look back myself and see where I started.
