Flying international bow hunting. Help

ANOTHER TIP ABOUT BOOTS...Make sure that your boots are clean, as in no dirt or other organic material on them. Most countries are very careful about non-native plant and animal material getting across their borders and you might have to either leave them at the airport or stop and clean them before you get on the plane or past security. I know it sounds trivial but why not take a couple minutes at home and save some hassle or lost equipment.

found this old thread after searching.

just want to know if there has been any changes to travelling to canada with a bow?

my flight will be air canada to calgary with a plane change over in vancouver. pretty sure i won't encounter customs until calgary.

i will have a take down recurve in a soft case in my checked bag along with arrows.

is it still simply a case of declare and that's it?

It's a breeze. Did it last fall for the 1st time. I wouldn't trust anything less than a SKB ATA rated case. Even then the TSA monkeys can mess you up. Don't overpack that case to the point it becomes a Tetris challenge to repack, my drop-away got messed up in transit because they opened the case and moved stuff around.
