My TFO NXT reel crapped out on me last season and am looking to replace it. I plan on buying used (probably eBay) and want to stay below $100; any suggestions?

Battenkill is a good suggestion.
I was surprisingly pleased with the new version of the Orvis Clearwater reel too and those are under $50 retail, only thing I don't like is they're large arbor, which is nice on a 5+ wt but don't like the large arbors on my 3-4 wt rods.

The Lamson is a great 100.00 reel. I have 20 of them on 8 wts for Silvers and Sockeyes. They have a great drag.

Lamson and Ross fan here. I've been lucky to get a few Ross reels for a heavy discount, but I don't mind paying full price for them either. Both great reels.

What’s the reel going to be used for?
I own 3 Echo reels and one Redington. Both work just fine. But, I am also just tight line nymphing or streamer fishing.
That being said, my pyramid lake rod will have another echo on it.

Thanks for all the replies, looks like I’m going to look for a Lamson.

Does Orvis still make the Encounter? It was basically the same as the Clearwater but some type of tough as hell poly so it didn't bend when you fell on it. Been my backpacking reel for a while and I have thoroughly abused it. Worth the 80$ whatever I paid.

lamsons are good same with orvis. I have an 8 year old konic I use in the salt I spray it down a couple times a year, im just waiting for it to quit on me and it keeps ticking away, the spool is corroded as hell but the drag is fine. ive had excellent luck with the hydros by orvis and the ultralight DD by hardy.
