I drew a tag for our upcoming Florida bear hunt. Only 171 issued and I am one of the lucky ones. In the last couple days I have had three reporters call and ask me for an interview. Apparently some group of tree huggers/tree ******* are offering $2k for any tag holder to not hunt (no idea of the details but I think you have to sign off on some paperwork) Of the 171 tags issued 44 went to antihunting lunatics trying to save the bears. No idea what the FWC is gonna do about that. In response this morning I loaded up the rest of my 300 PRC brass (212gr ELDX over 79grs of RL25).

The anti group also says they have placed over 900 trail cameras so they can "be watching from their phones" admittedly to try and thwart the hunt.

My assumption is the people who got bear tags and never intended to hunt them are going to get the money and she’ll turn around and say look at how many hunters didn’t hunt bears.

This reminds me of articles i've seen of the madness that surrounds the Australia duck hunts. Antis actively paddling through stands and scaring away ducks. Really hope this doesn't go that far but I know CO has a law that it's illegal to harass game or interfere with a hunter, definitely check if FL has the same! And maybe wear a go pro...lol

ironically i heard at one point someone in FWC said "well if we don't meet harvest quotas, we'll probably issue more tags". hopefully this backfires on them.

Why are the tag holder names publicly disclosed? This seems like a predictable result of public disclosure.

Apparently the list is public record. The "Bears Warriors United" is a well funded group with attorneys ready to go, it wouldn't be difficult for them to put it on blast. I did hear from Florida GOA, they said they will look into it since it is a defacto list of gun owners.

I would definitely look up the hunter harrasment laws and I’d wear a go pro. I would 100% expect to be harassed and have my words and actions twisted to the anti’s advantage (hence the need for a recording).

I say charge them 20K and then use that money to fund bear hunting trips over the next couple years throughout the U.S. and then provide your generous donors with photos! Thanking them for the money to not just hunt one bear but potentially so many more!

One positive is that the harvest will likely not meet quota which in theory should have the state issuing more tags in the future.
