Floorless Shelter Advice

I have been using a tarptent double rainbow as my backcountry shelter for the past couple seasons, but I am looking to make the switch to floorless. My main uses are summer backpacking and scouting (usually with the wife and 60 lb lab) and solo hunting the highcountry in September during archery and muzzleloader seasons. I do have some late season hunts planned in the future and want to take advantage of using a lightweight cylinder stove in the shelter. Weight is more important to me than being able to standup or having tons of extra floorspace. The Kifaru Supertarp with an annex and cylinder stove seems like it fits my needs well, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other shelters that might fit the bill. Any help is appreciated.

I'd look at the seek outside cimmaron, I had a supertarp and it is a solo shelter only. Get a nest for when you are with the family if needed and bugs are out.

This should give you a few ideas. Recent post I did comparing Cimmeron with a high end Hyperlight Mountain gear 4 man Shelter. Should help you out with a visual. My experience with floorless is your going to have those times being socked in because of weather. You may as well make sure you comfortable in the good and bad weather times. With the wife and a Dog your going definitely want something much larger then the Supertarp. Id follow what Dotman has said and give serious consideration to the Cimmeron or even a Kifaru Sawtooth. These are great space to weight ratio shelters and will definitely fit your bill with the wife and dog and solo even. I packed in a Sawtooth even a few miles its very nice for the size. Good luck in your search. Something I learn at the start of my journey with buying gear is make sure you buy something you know will have a high resale value so if it ends up not working out for you, then you can resell it without taking to much of a hit on the bank account. Seek Outside, Kifaru, Hyperlight Mountain Gear, Mount Laurel Design all make fantastic ultralight solutions that you will be able to recoup most of your cost back if you end up not sticking with it.
