Doing an early season (first week of September) high country deer hunt in colorado this year. I’ve always used a wall tent and used that as my base. Any issues going floor less that time of year? Bugs should be minimal, and decent weather. (Always potential for crap weather).

Bought a seek outside silvertip and planning on using it archery elk ...was wondering the same thing...only problem id have had would have been mice lol...they make floor inserts tho

I've been using a floorlees in Montana for the last five years. Up here the flying blood sucker are gone but the spiders are a slight issue. I run a MLD bug bivy to keep them out of my sleeping bag.
Other than that I'll always take a floorlees on a longer trip. Even over nighters in good weather a tarp and bug bivy are sweet.

In September I also don't leave the stove behind. If the weather man says it's going to be hot for the first week of Sept I'll leave it in the truck. But usually up here by the second week the mornings can get in the 30's and it's nice getting out of the sack when it's warm in the shelter. I think CO is dryer too. But there's a lot of days we had snow and rain. A stove is a must.

You can do it without major issue. Weather can be all over the place. Last year during the first week of September in Colorado, it was in the mid nineties and then 8 inches of snow the next day. This year, I will be doing a floored tent for archery. Then I will go Redcliff during first rifle. I won’t bring the stove unless the forecast is near zero.

I’ve camped floorless in the CO High Country every single month of the year with no issue.
Late spring/ Early summer is the only problematic timeframe due to mosquitos.

I guess my only real concern is mice/squirrels. I plan on leaving camp setup for the duration (5 days) and hunting from there everyday. Just toss food up in a tree...they shouldn’t mess with sleeping bag I wouldn’t think.

I woke up one night with a mouse chewing on the straps of my SG pack after it shredded a role of toilet paper. Idk about sleeping bags and mice, they’ve never messed with mine. Idk what would stop it from chewing a hole through a tent liner either...

High country seems to be the key words here. Don't see any problem with floor less. I really don't see a problem with it most of the hunting season in Colorado.

Bivy sack wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’ve never had one chew on my sleeping gear, but I had one bite into and puncture a bladder of whiskey while I was gone.

My only issue has been ants haha. It seems like every night I have a big ant crawl across my face.

Floorless should be fine. We have done it every year for the last several at 11-12k in CO early season and into late October.
