@HighUintas will that be a SMR type rifle? I don't really have time for a plank build either, but here we are. Just joined ALR and may do a build along there, I presume the HighUintas over there is you?

Yes that is me. It's going to be more of a quick/dirty fantasy rifle. Just something to get me practicing a little cheaper with less recoil and not have to constantly adjust my sights on my hunting gun. It will probably be a bit of SMR, a bit of SW Virginia, a bit of poorboy/barn gun. I'll likely make the trigger guard. Not sure on buttplate. It may not have one.

And yes, please share your building progress. I enjoy following those. Not sure if I'll do that for this one. It may include work that I'd be embarrassed to show off haha

So if you have a tang mounted sight, and then take off the barrel to clean, is it a reliable return to zero?

Should be. I didn't test mine though. I also don't take the barrel out of that gun to clean. Ended up installing a regular rear both sight. I'm not a fan of tang mount sights for hunting. They always seem to be in the way.
