I know the flat feet issue has been beat to death. So my feet are flat flat, as in 2x4 lumber flat. I have been trying different boots using my custom insoles to ensure my knees don't kill me but have had major issues with heel slippage when they are in. The insoles raise the heel up just enough that my foot doesn't sit in the heel cup right of every boot I've tried. Has anybody else had a similar issue, and if so a recommendation? And yes I'm removing the factory insole.

I'm in your boat with the flat feet and also a size 14. Have you spent enough time in any of the boots you have tried to get them properly broken in? I don't use custom insoles but run spenco total supports in everything. I picked up a pair of lowa tibets and had a bit of heel slippage the first 15-20 miles but once they got broken in a bit i could cinch them down and it went away. I was leery of jumping into a 300 dollar pair of boots blind but I have pretty tough feet and they have worked great.

Have a pair of Salomon's right now that were the best I could find to try on anywhere within 300 miles and after 8 miles it hasn't gotten better. May have to try a lower profile non-custom insole.

I have a very wide forefoot and narrow heel but not flat feet. Very happy with a couple of pairs of crispi boots - Idaho and Thor. Might be worth a look.

Part of my issue as well. Have read other flat footers having good luck with Crispi's but as much as I love Texas, the hunting boot market is pretty small. Hate to spend that kind of money on a boot that I can't even try on.

You might want to call Lathrop and Sons. My “custom” boots are due in tomorrow. I dont have flat feet but was having problems with boot fit. I have spent big money on high end boots trying to fix it myself. I did the Lathrop and Sons foot mapping and from what they told me I have been way off on what I was buying.

I do not have flat feet, however, I have experienced heel slippage due to a wide forefoot and slimmer heel. Through guess and test, I've switched out numerous insoles in an effort to reduce the discomfort and found success with thicker wool insoles that are void of arch support. You also may want to refer to the below link for further assistance with proper lacing techniques.

Same boat. I have tried Lowa, Crispi and several other high end brands. Mainly European stuff.

Oddly the brand that fits the best is Danner wide sizes - just based on the cut. I use the plastic half length Danner orthotics with almost no lift.

I’ve had the fort Lewis, Acadia, and now am running my second pair of combat hikers which are essentially the Crater Rim models. They do not last as long as the Lowas but they do fit so good.
