Quick google came up empty on comparisons. Curious to have your opinions on which is the better option as a stand alone and as a base layer.

This would be early September and my geography is essentially northern Idaho.

I'm drawn towards the Sitka due to the perks of synthetic and b/c I sweat easily.
I have a first lite wilkin I could toss over top when temps drop.

I like the first lite wilkin and I wore it a lot. I'm a fan of wool but the durability concerns me. My wilkin never good really smelly. I've had a bad experience with a rab base layer with polygiene in the fast. Got stinky right away and smell never left.

I had a fl chama that I just sold b/c I overheated when hiking if I had the chama and wilkin on together.

Thanks folks. Appreciate you taking the time to give your opinions.

My core light hoody is a favorite piece. I have an fl merino hoody but not the wick. My Sitka is going strong after a couple of dozen days in the field. No stink.

Thanks DJ. That's impressive. How chilly of a temp before you start layering?

It’s not a heavy piece. Think under armor workout shirt type thickness. Basically a long sleeve t shirt with a hood. I tend to prefer hooded shirts for concealment and sun protection. I will be looking for a layer in the 50s or even 60s depending on wind.

BTW to clarify that field time I mention above is not all at once. I have probably 2 dozen cumulative days in the field with it. No more than 3 at a time as I recall. It handled stink as well as the kuiu merino bottoms I was wearing. The Polygiene treatment whatever it is seems to be holding up.

I wore a Core light weight hoody for 3 straight days this past January as well with a good amount of sweating and had no stink either.

I really liked the piece...dries super quick.

This may or may not matter to you, but the Sitka also has a built in facemask that works really well. Folds away to the point you wouldn’t even know it’s there, but easy to deploy quickly and works great. My Sitka LW Hoody is one of my favorite pieces. I’ve never gotten it stinky but haven’t worn it more then two days at a time either.

Sounds like the core lightweight is worth a try. In cold weather I can layer my wilkin on top.

Now I wear a medium in first lite and a large in kuiu. Have never owned Sitka before.

I'm 5'10" 180ish. Assuming I'm a large but could you gents confirm that please?

I'm 6'1", 195ish and wear a large in both Sitka and Kuiu base layers. I'd say both Kuiu and Sitka have a pretty similar, "athletic" fit on me.

Also, just as an FYI Sitka is using new materials for their Core series starting this year. I don't really know anything about the changes other than they're happening, but you can either wait and get the new stuff when it comes out or get the old stuff at a discount right now.

Good to know. Thank you.
Maybe I'll wait and see what's up.

Also just had a look at sales and subalpine in large seems to be a popular size and has sold out.

Just checked and Amazon has it in Subalpine L. Lots of vendors carry Sitka and virtually all of them have it on sale right now, just look around if you can't find it on their site.

thank you. I am up in Canada so it's a lot tougher to purchase Sitka here without some big shipping and duty costs.
Really appreciate you having a look for me though. I'll see if I can make it work.

In regards to the new lightweight fabric, is there speculation of a merino blend?

I'm 99% sure it's just a different synthetic blend. They have some merino items but none of those were updated this year. If you call them they'll send you their 2019 catalog - doesn't give any details but at least shows what was updated in 2019.

Is it fairly loose fitting on you? I'm starting to think I need a medium since Sitka and first lite has essentially the same measurement for medium.

No it is not loose fitting on me. Not sausage casing tight but not loose at all.

I can't check right now, but I wear medium in First lite and I'm 99% sure I got a medium in the Sitka too.
Camber. Please confirm. That'd be very helpful.

I'm a medium in the wilkin but a large in the sawtooth.
