Can anyone share with me a real world review of the this catalyst system. Warmth and windproof or wind resistance are of particular interest.

What’s your intended use? For treestands hunts I find myself getting cold any temp under 50 if there is a wind. I don’t think there is much wind resistance in it. That being said I’m suprised by its durability so far, and it is very comfortable and dead silent. Tapered sleeves are nice but I don’t see the need for a thinner jacket like this. I find myself struggling to put multiple layers underneath it gets pretty right below the wrists. Overall a nice jacket, got mine on here for pretty cheap so I’m happy with it

I have a set and wore them in the mountains last year and locally deer hunting in MS. In general it’s a pretty light set and for cold weather you have to layer pretty good with it. I wish the jacket was a little heavier.

I will treestand hunt Georgia and then hike hunt wnc. I’ll hike in 1.7 to 3.5 in wnc change clothes and tree stand hunt. In Georgia I’ll walk 20 minutes on flat ground. I have all First Lite now besides I wear cabelas Berber fleece with windshear. It’s juat so thick and heavy to carry in so far in the mountains. I guess I’ll buy a kuiu guide set

I love the catalyst set. Great for treestand hunting into the 40s with uncompaghre underneath or cold active hunts.

It is wind resistant enough to me and the dwr doesn’t let the jacket wet out.

I used mine for a winter cow moose hunt, no issues with layering or fitment. I enjoyed the lack of excess fabric on the sleeves, it made movement through willows very easy to deal with. I used it for some still hunting in the fog right above freezing with nothing underneath the pants and a hoodie under the jacket. Legs were comfy but I was a tad hot upper body. My only experience with the waterproofness or lack thereof is falling through the ice into a creek with one leg. The brambler gaiters from FL kept me dry till my leg went in past the gaiter. Then the water came in through the catalyst pants. With that being said, it was mid to low teens for temperature, I was wet and it was 4 hours till I got back to the truck AND I did not have any issues whatsoever with being warm or comfortable. Good gear but it will get a more thorough testing throughout this year.

I used both the pants and the jacket all season long when the temps dipped below 50. The jacket has effectively replaced my Klamath when I use a base layer and another mid layer (Core midweight zip) It filled a niche for me because I wanted a midweight outer layer with pockets. The jacket is better than the pants, the pants are really nice as long as you don't mind hunting in durable sweatpants but they don't really wear like hunting pants for me. I'm a jeans and T shirt guy all day long and maybe I'm in the minority but I just like my pants to feel like I'm wearing a hunting pant. Now, having said that, they're durable, they're silent, they're warm for what they are, and I will probably continue to treestand hunt out of both pieces. The biggest flaw in the system is the lack of windstopper. The DWR wears off quick and is not something you should rely on, once they release this system with a windstopper option and maybe some reinforced quad sections or a butt section in a 4 way stretch it will kick ass. Until then I will keep wanting more out of it.

The catalyst system has some positives and negatives.

The things I like about it are how quiet it is and how durable it is. The fleece lining keeps you pretty warm as long as there is not much wind and it’s not dipping below the mid 40s for me.

It’s a little bit heavier of a system for hiking or packing in compared to the warmth to weight ratios of other options.

At the end of the day, if there’s much wind at all and the temps are in the 40s or below, you will need significant layering to not be cold.

It is a pretty nice early or mid season white tail system for me. I don’t use it for packing in at all. For what it’s worth I do own one in a solid color because I love the fit and feel of the jacket. I wear it around my ranch and to work since it’s a comfortable and nice soft jacket that does wick away light rain.

I have. The jacket. I would say it is an athletic fit. I sized fit up a bit to layer underneath.

- Depending on layers and activity it could go down to the 40s With a puffy or fleece under it
- it is a soft shell with a thin fleece backer So not a super cold weather piece
- breathes better than my jet stream or kuiu guide dcs
- it isn’t as warm or wind and water proof as my jetstream. About the same as the kuiu guide jacket.
- if I was picking favorites I would say I still prefer the jetstream but the catalyst is very good. I favor the catalyst for warmer weather and the jetstream for heavier weather. I wore both this year and was very happy.

How are the gloves? I’m looking for a glove to layer over my Talus gloves when temps dip into the low 30s.
