I would not call it a generous large I guess. I am 5-11 175 and it fits with a baselayer without being too restrictive. Nice thing about wool is you can get it damp and stretch it wherever you like.
Sleeves are nice and long. I have pretty long arms and buy a 34 dress shirt and it is down to thumb knuckle.
