Supposed to be heading to Port Clinton, Ohio in a couple of days to fish Lake Erie. Fishing Thursday through Saturday and coming back home(Iowa) on Sunday. It’s a group of 4 of us. Staying in an AirBNB. Right now, trip is still on and we’re going. Wives are getting a little nervous.

If it were you, would you go on the trip as planned or would you cancel and stay home?

I don’t think you need to think about it to hard. By Thursday the decision might be made for you. Don’t go, unless you want to spend a month fishing Erie. Which maybe isn’t the worst thing...

Go fishing. Lake Erie in a boat. Not exactly what would be considered a high risk situation.

I’m loving this time off work. Taking the opportunity to top off the freezer.

Is this a serious question?

Bernie said I should turn in all my firearms to stop the cover virus. Should I do it?

BTW thanks a lot for your unwarranted hysteria. Im picking up a lot of stocks now at a huge discount. You should probably cancel hunting the next few years too.

Yes it was a serious question. I live in Iowa, not Ohio so was curious what the“panic” and situation was like over there.

Have no idea what Bernie and my and your firearms have to do with my question.

lastly, I didn’t know asking a simple question meant hysteria. For the record, I’ve picking up stocks at a discount too, so do you want an award? I will keep on keeping on, hunting trips included and hope you do too. Next time I need advice on anything I’ll be sure to ask you first as you have the answer for everything it seems.

Thanks to everyone for the answers. That was my train of thought as well. Walleyes here I come. Just wanted more opinions in case our wives get more nervous.

We have a trip in June to Port Clinton and have all intentions of going. Good luck with your trip.

Our opinions have nothing to do with it.

You are going to fly? drive? to Ohio and stay in someone's place, then either go with a guide or yourselves to fish. Bring your cleaning supplies and scrub/spray the snot out of the place to at least reduce your risk.

Will there be enough TP? Bring extra.

Then there is the quarantine/travel risk.

Do you have a plan in case you guys actually get exposed and catch it? Place to stay so you don't infect your kids and spouses while recovering from virus. Are you callous enough that you won't feel horribly guilty if you bring the virus home to your family?

All it takes is one dude/dudette sneezing on you...

The fish will be there next year.

The only thing I'd be concerned with is being stuck somewhere trying to get home. If your comfortable with the possibility of not being allowed home for a month or so then roll out.

So, I was supposed to go on a snow goose hunt in upstate NY this weekend that I've been looking forward to. It sucks, but we just made the decision we can't make it work.

We're east coast - Mass and NY are shutting pretty much everything down, can't eat out anywhere, staying in a hotel with a friend. And then combine that with trying to convince the family that it's worth the risk for me to go on a hunting trip while they stay home.

Sucks, but I can walk to fishing spots from the house so maybe I try and catch some early season fish close to home.

Now that's funny... some guys just can't help themselves I guess. Some very formidable keyboard warriors and intellectual stallions on this site so please tread lightly :ROFLMAO:.

On your question, I've got travel coming up too and think if you're going by way of a vehicle with the ability to keep yourself fed you should be OK - especially if you avoid the city. I'm also starting to concealed carry unless I'm in the shower... crime could increase with all the shutdowns (bars, restaurants, etc.). You might also keep some decent amount of cash on hand in case there is a run on the banks.

On the other hand, there are some fat walleyes in the upper Mississippi that could be closer to home and this side of Chicago, Cleveland, etc.

My business (charter boat captain) is definitely being impacted by this bug.
people like the op canceling left and right.
The folks that have been with me the last few days have not regretted the decision to go fish. Been lights out good!
Bummer I have the day off today. Been really fun fishing 8 hours a day the last week and not once thinking about this bug, until I get to a place where I open phone or turn on TV.
Is it really necessary to talk about this crap 24/7??
Wash your hands, don’t lick doorknobs and don’t get into a mosh pit.
How hard is that?

I can count on 0 fingers the number of times I've been sneezed upon in public.

You must be pretty intimidating.

OK let's try coughing - Ever have someone sitting 1 table over at a restaurant coughing & hacking away? grocery store? work? Folks just standing there and coughing without covering up. Kids do it and we understand, adults do it and we wonder what's wrong with them...

Wash your hands, don’t lick doorknobs and don’t get into a mosh pit.

Funny about the licking challenge going on right now - amazing what folks will do.

Sorry you are losing business when the fish are biting - what's running?

I need to make money so i can hunt and fish. The thought to cancel either right now has NEVER crossed my mind.
