Have had this for about 3 years now and it has always seemed to wet out and soak through on the elbows forearm and shoulder parts got it used so cant really send it in but was gonna try a treat it with waterproofing is it better to use the wash in or spray on? There is no wear through or thin areas on the parts thay seem to soak through that i can see.

With all these "waterproof" breathable rainwear its important to clean it as well. Once a year I'll use nikwax cleaning solution and then waterproof solution in my washer for my SEAK jacket. Never had an issue.

Good point on cleaning^....

I use the soak with soft-shell stuff....and the spray on with my rain gear and though I've had gore tex still fail its never happened to my Kuiu.

This rain jacket hasnt really been used much except for around town just because of it not being too waterproof but yeah i have never washed it will wash and spray it see what happens. I do have the Kuiu Chugach wich i have used alot and never had an issue with it but if it gets bloody or dirty i just wash off with a hose. Hopefully i can get it to do its thing. Maybe thays why the guy before traded it to me who knows😂

Any chance water is running down the sleeves? I have had that before.

REI has a nice tutorial on cleaning rain gear. See below. I rarely wash rain gear. I will rinse it with a hose or bucket. Occasionally throw it in a delicate cycle with no soap if it is dirty. For serious cleans, I have had good luck with nikwax products and a few minutes in a medium hot clothes dryer. Seems to wake up the dwr.

Nope not running down the sleeves I got water coming through just waiting for my daughter to get out of school the other day. It was raining pretty hard and it wasnt so much water that i was soaked but it was enough to notice.
