Howdy y’all!

Just purchased my first SxS (Honda Pioneer 1000-5) and need to buy a trailer to tow it with. Hoping to buy something that can hold the SxS, tent, cooler, etc for my western elk hunts. Anybody have good trailer recommendations?

Was thinking about the Big Tex 60PI 6x12 but not sure if I should go bigger. Want to stay at around 3k+ lbs payload so dual axle seems to be the ticket.

Thanks for any insight,

What are you towing with? My inclination is to go a little larger than what you think you need and I’d definitely opt for two axles.
Towing with a 2024 Tundra which has 12k lbs towing but only 1300lbs payload. Thinking of upsizing to an F250. Any manufacturers you’d recommend?

Tape out a rectangle in your driveway that's whatever size trailer you're considering and see if all your crap fits in it. Putting crap in the SXS itself saves quite a bit of room on the trailer too, I pack the floor boards of mine with cases of water, propane etc. put an ice chest in the bed.

Good idea. Thank you.

I have a pipe top Top Hat that I really love, it's been a great trailer. Bought it in Cheyenne to move two of my sons back home and wanted the biggest trailer I could get but there was a serious trailer shortage at the time so had to take what I could get. Still had to wait 10 days for the shop to get it delivered and everything else on the truck was already sold. I cut the gate in half because I got tired of driving with a parachute on the back. It's 7x12 and my buggy uses every inch of it but I like the shorter length for tucking it away and walking it by hand. Buggy is a 6 seater so probably not as tight for a single seat row buggy. Last year I put a 150qt cooler in the buggy back seat, 145qt rtic in the bed, and Kodiak tent and poles in the front seat. It was a bit of a pain but I managed all my gear without overloading my truck. If I had to do it over again I'd get the same buggy in a 3 seat instead of 6.

Whatever you get make sure you have at least one and maybe even 2 spare tires. Can’t say how many I’ve seen sitting along the highway with a flat and no spare. An extra hub and bearings wouldn’t hurt either.
