First timer advice

It's pretty similar to golf in a lot of ways. Takes tons of practice, years of failure, generally a decent amount of $$$ and you hate it 90% of the time looking for a sweet taste of the 10%
I have never golfed, but several of my buds do. They ride around in a cart on flat ground. Wear shorts and drink beer while they are doing it. I have never hunted elk like that.

And to the OP, you have to take the first step and learn as you go. Finding someone who is reliable, dependable and disciplined is always a tough go. Chasing elk solo is a blast, until you get one on the ground. Then you will find out what kind of a man you are.

Well they aren't very good I imagine. I'm talking about being good.

Plus, there are PLENTY of shitty elk hunters hunting elk exactly like your buds are golfing, except swap the shorts for full Sitka....
