First time mule deer hunter here from Wisconsin. Last few months I have watched, read, and listened to everything you can think of to better myself for this trip, but knowing that everything changes once you get there especially for a flat lander like me that has been out west one time unsuccessfully in Colorado for elk. Does anyone have any tips or things to expect once I get out there to hopefully avoid tag soup this go around again. Ill be in the salmon-challis national forest area October 5-20. I have E-scouted a handful of spots and plan on scouting a few days before the season open to hopefully locate some bucks in the E scouted locations, but if anyone has any tips for this area or mule deer hunting in general feel free to PM me.

So...forum rules say you can't ask about specific units. You might consider editing this to remove mention of specific unit, and ask about hunting a more general geography around that unit.

How did your hunt go?
Long story short. Person i went with got sick on the mountain when we were 3 miles in. With the lack of water out there we ended up calling it after 3 days and the sickness not getting better and needing them to continue drinking a bunch of fluids. We did see elk, moose and some mulies. so not a total loss, but didnt go as planned.
