First time (hunting) suppressor help

I have nothing but good things to say about my TBAC Ultra 7. I’ve shot a whole bunch of rounds through it, including hunts on barrels as long as 24” that weren’t unmanageable. I really like running it in the 18-20” barrel range.

I just picked up an AB Raptor 8 .375, but haven’t gotten a chance to take it out yet. At some point I’ll probably try one of the UM cans later on, but I’m not playing early adopter this time.

On barrels that long for hunting you want as short and light as possible. I would recommend Ti and 5”. TBAC 5 was my choice for hunting, but a TBAC 7 will preform quite a bit better if you have any other platforms to suppress.

The ultra 5 sucks really bad compared to the 7 for sure.
That Reaper at only 6" is almost as quiet as my Hyperion, the baffle design along with a 1.8" diameter is pretty incredible.

I’ve thought about getting the reaper for my 300 wsm and/or 6.5 prc. Did it have that Ti “ping” that you get from some cans from what you could tell?

It did not, in fact it had a noticeably deeper tone than my Hyperion, slightly louder but deep
Would you try it on an ultra mag? I have a 300rum that I really want to try it, but it's a hunting rifle and not interested in anything long and heavy so reaper would be one of the only options
It's braked and not sure if a can would benefit it to justify the cost.

It'd do well but you'll definitely feel more recoil coming from a brake

Hey Everyone! Hoping you can help! Trying to decide on my first suppressor and having a difficult time narrowing down the options out there.

My primary use case is a can for my lightweight 7mm PRC build (22 inch proof barrel) that will be used mostly up here in Alaska. Something versatile enough to also be used in long range precision/PRS rigs would also be awesome, but hunting would be the primary purpose.

I thought I had settled on the Scythe TI since it was light weight, had a brake for recoil, and super popular, but then have seen a ton or reviews about them blowing up on people. I think I'd be willing to add a little weight if it resulted in more durability/versatility.

Any recommendations/experience on suppressors used on lightweight magnum hunting rifles? Thanks!

For a first can I wouldn't worry about super short or light. I'd buy something 6-7" long & 10-12 ozs. The first can is the hurdle, everything else is a flat track in front of you. (You will be buying more)

If I could do it over again I'd start with an AB A-10 for a bolt gun. Then decide if weight, size, sound suppression or lack of gas in the face (semiauto) was the priority for a second purchase. For $480 bucks it'll keep up to most others for sound. It's not too heavy and not too long. It's stainless so durability shouldn't be an issue. IMHO the A-10 in .30 cal is a great place to start.
