This year will be the first time hunting black bear for me. I’m going to pick up a fall tag just in case but really planning on hunting the spring season. I plan on spot and stalking and was wondering if there are any books/youtube videos that are good references for archery bear hunting.
Thank you

You will likely get more/better advice if you provide a bit more detail with regard to your hunting plan/hopes. What general area are you looking to hunt, eastern/western states, Canada, Alaska? Or are you brand new into bear hunting and not sure what path you want to try? Lots of folks on here willing to steer you in the right direction if you can provide some more detail.

Edited my last post as I missed the spot and stalk portion of your post. Information on spot and stalk archery bear hunting is going to be pretty limited. It is a very hard way to hunt and actually find any sort of repeatable, consistent success. Lots of articles on this site that will give you good insight into finding fall bears in berry patches. You will also find good info on locating spring bear, putting a stalk on one from there with a bow is another story.

Sounds good thank you. And it will be in Wy.

Cover, food and water. If you find fresh sign, might try doing a honey burn. Calling is always an option, but make sure you’ve got something at your back and keep your head on a swivel.
Glass the slopes around water. Finding nuts or berries is a big plus.

Clay Newcomb's old Bear Hunting Magazine podcast series has a bunch of podcasts about bears and hunting them. I'd start there. Be aware that this is NOT his new Bear Grease podcast.
If you want an idea on how difficult spot n stalk black bear hunting is, you will notice that the episode about it is titled "Sheep Hunt of the South".

The early Gritty videos on youtube had some great suggestions and footage of spot and stalk bear hunting. Unfortunately it has become more of a shopping network show now, I get it as they need to make money, but I learned a lot from their content from several years ago. I had no interest in bear hunting until watching their wild back country hunts. Took my first bear 2 years ago during Spring, I have a spot and stalk fall hunt set for this year in rough country. Hoping for the best, but I know it will be a tough hunt.

Fall is a little tougher than Spring because the food sources are more spread out, but you are still looking for food sources, water and shelter and the proximity of each of those needs. Try to find all 3 in close proximity then start looking for sign. I have bumped a lot of bears on closed logging roads hiking into elk hunt, if you have access to closed roads you could slow down and move a quietly as possible with the wind in your favor. Good Luck!
