First Spring Bear

Just wanted to share my first spring bear. I have been in Alaska 8 or 9 months and this is the first time I have killed something here. It took me about 9 days of backpacking in and getting familiar with the area. The hike out was rough, 7 miles back to the truck. Not a big bear, but I don't think I would want to pack out anything bigger by myself!

Thanks everyone. It was a good time. I saw 7 bears total, but this is the only black bear that I saw. At one point I was 60 yards from a brown bear which I would have gladly taken if I was allowed lol. I think that I really want to do a mountain goat hunt in the near future, but I will wait until I am a resident in Aug. I might see if I can get on another black bear or focus on fishing next month when the king salmon start running. Good Luck to everyone out there.
