Hello all,

I have been trying for a few years now and finally pulled a 2026 southeast Alaska black bear tag. I have hunted black bears for a long time but never by water and am excited for the opportunity. I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips or items they felt were absolutely necessary?

I am staying at a lodge that provides a boat with navigation. I’ve got kuiu rain gear, wading pants, waterproof gear, waterproof floating gun case and lots of other stuff I can’t think of at the moment. Bringing a family member so we don’t get caught by tides.

Any help appreciated.

rubber boots or waders are good. Mainly plan to hunt around the low tide. I haven't hunted SEAK but I am sure its not much different than PWS. Bears easily respond to a change in motor noise, Like if you are cruising along and see a bear then cut the motor to an idle they generally leave/just making there way in the woods. becareful walking on the rock at low tide can be extremely slick
