Hi Folks, here is a picture of a hunt I took myself on two years ago, I was not successful, but it was awesome anyway. There was a decent storm with lots of lightning right overhead (pushes rifle a little farther away). I hike into D7 from the east side over Paiute Pass or Duck Pass. I spend enough time reading this forum that I figured I’d join.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve always thought about going and hiking in from that side but it’s a much further drive so I don’t save any time doing it, just get into the country a little bit easier

Thanks for the reply. It is a bit of a gamble. You commit to at least a five mile hike just to get to the Fresno County line where D7 starts. I always go in during the season without any scouting before. Sometimes there are deer, and sometimes not.

Next year I am supposed to draw an X9a tag. So I might just go scout during archery then hop over the top after doing some scouting to hunt with my bow. Instead of driving all the way back around. Either way the area looks amazing
