What is the major difference in these two besides the hood? I like having a hood but I like the feel of the Kuiu Guide which seems to me the North Branch is most similar to.

Thanks

I have a north branch and just ordered a Woodbury. Have not received it yet.

The north branch is a softshell with a wind and water resistant outer and a fleece backing or liner.

Woodbury is a coat of sorts. Out is similar to the north branch with less stretch I am told. However the woodbury is insulated with synthetic fill. A tough skinned puffy if you will.

The Woodbury I understand is more similar to the sanctuary coat but with less fill.

The Woodbury and North Branch were designed for different purposes. The North Branch is a non-insulated soft shell designed for breathability and seems very durable busting through brush. Do a search on my name and you can find some of my thoughts on the North Branch and a bunch of other First Lite gear. If you are stationary and the wind is blowing you will feel it as it is NOT wind proof. I froze a couple different times wearing the North Branch when stationary for more than 30 min. I hunted in North Dakota and PA with the North Branch, never again on a cold windy day when you are going to be stationary. If you are constantly on the move you should be ok. The material is also somewhat noisy if you are a bow hunter.

The Woodbury jacket is insulated and uses the same very very quiet outer shell material of the Sanctuary coat and bibs, just a lighter amount of insulation. Both the Woodbury and Sanctuary were designed for cool and very cold weather stationary hunting. I have time on both the North Branch and Sanctuary Coat and Bibs. I also just purchased the Woodbury to try out as the Sanctuary is so warm you won't to wear it without temps below freezing, it's that warm! The sanctuary is also wind proof and I expect the Woodbury will be as well. I'll see if that holds true while I'm in an open tree stand hunting in ND the first week of Nov. if you are on the move, I expect the Woodbury will be too warm unless it is very cold out. The Sanctuary is a very heavy coat and the Woodbury is less but still much heavier than North Branch shell.

Hope that helps!

So I bought the Woodbury. Fit is true to first lite. Without holding a sanctuary, I am kind of glad I didn't buy the heavier coat. This thing is heavy as it is. Looking forward to trying out the warmth later this season.

Based on an aggressive bit of fondling I would note that the Woodbury is far more feature rich. Dual lower pockets, duck pocket, interior pockets. Pass thru for safety harness. Turret hood that is removable. Much more heavy than the uncomwhatever. Like mentioned above, apples and oranges.

I have both. Woodbury is awesome! Quiet, which is key for me, and warm. North branch is a soft shell jacket. I don't see wearing the north branch in a treestand but that's just me. Woodbury is a homerun in my opinion. I've had the sanctuary but as mentioned above don't think I would find temps cold enough where I hunt. They really are night and day differences between these two jackets. Woodbury for stand hunting colder temps and north branch for Staying on the move...at least for me.
