How does the First Lite merino run for sizing? I normally wear an XL in all shirts. I don't like a compression type fit. Should I go with a 2xl?

If you want a regular t shirt fit then yes go up. I wear XL in everything I own including Other FL items but the llano I size up. It's not a compression fit but it's fairly fitted in the XL, especially if you have wide shoulders.

Size up with the Llano and Chama is borderline but most do, the rest of their products are right on except the Kanab 2.0 which depend on how big your hips/thighs are.

I typically wear an XL or occasionally an L in shirts/jackets but in the Labrador I had to go down to a Medium, which I have never had to do before. But that is the only FL garment I have so I can't comment on anything else they make.

I am 5'9 and 190 lbs with a "formerly" athletic build lol. I found the base layers to fit pretty well, the mid layers to be a bit big and the outer layers to be huge in size LARGE. I ended up intentionally shrinking my Chama so I wasn't swimming in it and now it fits great. As for outer layers I am sizing down to a Medium and Ill have plenty of room to layer underneath.

I'd order your regular XL size especially in mid and outer layers.

I normally wear an XL and wear an XL Llano, but they are definitely cut like an athletic cut. Not compression fit, but slender. Cabela's sent me Larges by mistake a few years ago and I was like "Farley in a little coat" trying to get that thing on.
