Have a good opportunity to pick up any first lite clothes on discount and was wondering what would be recommended for a layering system that could cover September archery to November rifle hunts.

Klamath grid fleece and the 150 wick base layer. Hood or no hood is up to you. I have the short sleeve and long sleeve in the wick 150 stuff.

Any take on rain gear or pants?

Corrugate Guides, Wick base, Klamath, Uncompahgre. I have all pieces and they will get me through just about anything August-November. I also carry a Marmot Minamalist jacket.

Do you wear a wick base layer under the guides for say a November rifle elk hunt?

Just used the vapor stormlight rain jacket on a rainy turkey hunt and I have to say it was excellent. Great breathability and I stayed bone dry after 7 miles. @Hans1632

I love the Chama and wick hoody (weather dependent) especially with a synthetic next to skin underneath, best of both worlds.

I actually never wear base bottoms because I run hot. I have put them on when it drops into the teens or lower but I usually use Kuiu zip offs so I can ditch them when I eventually start sweating.

So far I’ve got a crew wick ss, obsidian merino pants since they didn’t have corrugate guides in my size, Klamath hoody, uncompaghre, and stormtight. Any other suggestion to add? Thinking I might want to add some merino gloves maybe

If I were you I would wait on the gloves if possible. They just re vamped their glove line with improvements to their current ones. Just my opinion. If you can find something you like... go for it. I also own the kiln that I like alot but havent decided if the kiln(wool) or the klamath(fleece) will be best as my primary outer layer for early season. Others may be able to add to this but I assume its mostly preference. I think the klamath hoody blocks wind better though.

I wear my kiln bottoms under my guides and that can take me into rifle season to answer your question above. I do enjoy the Guide Jacket, it was purchased to protect those delicate layers. Ended up being worn virtually every day, for every reason a jacket is needed for. Sounds like you have a good start to your system, before you know it you’ll have more then you need ha!

Looking to cover from early archery to late rifle
Was asking more on conditions like coastal rainforest, lowland desert, high alpine, that type of conditions. Here on the coast of Washington I would typically use the Seak rain gear over wick base layers for the late elk season at the end of November. But for anything east of the mountains I would just have the vapor in my pack. But it sounds like you have a very good start on a well rounded kit. More detail would help in fine tuning.
