This may have been discussed a few times before, but was wondering which you guys think would be a better baselayer on fairly cold days (I dunno, 20-40 degrees?), the 250gram Kiln or the 200gram Fuse? I'm leaning towards the Kiln but thought I should ask first since it's been a couple years since I've bought any FL and everything is has changed lol

I use wick for my base in all weather . I’m usually following bird dogs or hiking ridges in those temps. When I sit to glass I will throw on a Chama or Kuiu merino hoody (230 weight I think?) then a puffy if I get really cold. I run pretty warm though.

In the past I've just run the lightest FL baselayer of the time and then layer, but thinking on colder trips maybe I should run a slightly heavier baselayer....

200 for sure if you're doing any hiking, even a 150. Then layer a 250 or fleece over if you get cold. 200 Fuse is my favorite all around base layer.

The Kiln to me is quite a bit heavier than the Fuse. When it is really cold I will layer the Kiln over the top of the Fuse but it has to be a fairly low exertion activity to wear both at the same time.

I also use the Wick as a base no matter the temp & layer from there. Qz top & long boxer/breifs. The breathability is awesome. Add heavy merino or fleece, puffy or whatever as needed.
