Well I just orderd a Duplex Lite Frame last Friday and it already shipped. So this payday I’m buying the bag. I’m thinking the Reckoning, does anyone have any experience with it? And please all positives and negative anyone has found

I have a Reckoning and I like it. There is a lot of versatility to it. There are some things about it that make me want to try a Fulcrum, but by no means am i upset with my purchase of the Reckoning.

I don’t really need a 5000ci bag but like you said it seems very versatile and I like the front zip. I won’t be using the meat shelf I’ll just game bag with a contractors bag.

I own the Reckoning. I really like the pack, though it would be even better in xpac material. It compresses really well, and has tons of space when you go to load it up for bigger trips.

What are you going to use it for? I have the Reckoning and its little brother, the Woodsman. I took the Woodsman with me to Wyoming this fall since my plan was that if I did pack in, the longest I would stay would be two nights. I wound up car camping the whole time but it worked great as a daypack and when I got my moose down, it worked equally well. If my plan had been to pack in for three or more nights, I probably would have taken the Reckoning. You are putting up with a lot of extra fabric with the Reckoning when using it as a daypack but it works. If you are a minimalist packer (probably wouldn’t be looking at Kifaru if you were), you could probably get by with the Woodsman on an extended trip. I like lots of stuff though.

Personally, If I were looking at a 5000 CI bag, I'd look at a DT2 for a one bag do all. This is coming from a guy that has never had a Reckoning. But, the DT2 has two pockets on the outside for organizing day gear and such, a bottom compartment if you use the divider that will separate gear from meat when packing it in a bag, and two long side pockets for extra clothes, rain gear, etc.... You'd have to find one used as they don't offer them anymore but, I really like them. Like I said, I have zero experience with the Reckoning. The front zip is nice. But, with all the organized storage the DT2 has built into, for day hunting you'll have very little need to ever get into the main bag unless hauling meat. Then you just drop it into it through the top, Crank down on the 4 compression straps and go. Plus, it compresses down nice when in day mode

My original choice was the woodmans but I don’t wanna get pockets and stuff if I wanna go extended trips. I’d rather have some extra fabric

Plus none of my buddy’s have nice bags so I want enough room to haul some of my buddy’s meat if needed

If you're going to haul meat inside the bag rather than using a meat shelf setup, go with a Fulcrum. Lots of space in the bag, just use the wing pockets and maybe a lid for your day pack.

I like the option of the meat shelf personally, and that's why I went with a Reckoning. Plus the ladder lock straps on the outside leave a lot of options for compression strap connections to attach things like a head, and that can come in handy as well.

Used the Reckoning this year and loved it. The full length center zip was one of my favorite features. It's large enough to not need pockets depending on your trip and if needed can extend upwards for added gear and plenty of room for pockets and add ons.

I am interested in the Fulcrum too though like mentioned above. But I don't plan on switching anytime soon

I have the reckoning and it’s a great bag! Side pockets are perfect and the compression strap 3 sided system just works.
You can’t go wrong with it!
