First Impressions - First Lite Corrugate Guide Pants

Received my FL order today. First blush in the Corrugate pants is good. Light, comfortable, seems like they will be quiet, nice stretch to the fabric. Looking forward to getting them out on scouting trip but so car a really like what I see.

How is the fit? Are hey true to the sizing on the web site. Mine come on Monday and I have been nervous about the sizing. Im stuck between two sizes.

I am a 34 waist but am lean. The med fits good. If they perform as well as the rest of FL gear I own then these will be the best pants around.

They should fit you well. I'm 33 wast 30 length. Medium is comfortable at the waste and a little long for me.

How do they compare to any other hunting pants you might own?
I love the stretch and the fit more then the attacks and acsent that I own. They taper down around the lower part of the leg which I love. They are more comfortable then the other 2 mentioned above.

Been Roking mine for almost 4 months. IMO they are the best hunting pants on the market.

I have a pair of mediums in order to check out. I went with dry earth for the initial order. If I like them then will probably get a pair in ASAT too.

I would say the waist size is slightly more generous on guide pants compared to the Kanab 2.0.
The guide pants are 90% nylon / 10% spandex. Much of KUIU and Sitka is 100% polyester I believe. Polyester absorbs very little water, but I think nylon and spandex both absorb significantly more water. Seems to me this would make the pants heavy and slower to dry when compared to a similar KUIU and Sitka piece. Any thoughts or experience? Along the same lines, merino wool adsorbs a lot of water. What has been your experience with drying out Kanabs overnight in a tent without a heat source if it is 30 or 40 degrees?

Here is the break down on water retention % from Keton(Firstlite)

"Moisture regaine on poly is about .7 percent nylon is about 3.5 percent, both quite small numbers. Being that nylon is quite a bit stronger it allows manufacturers to build thinner pants with a looser weave. Thus having pants that breath so much better that the nylon construction more that out weighs the small difference in absorption. Which poly/nylon blends are made solely to to deal with nylons minimal regaine"

I have been using the Kuhl renegades for the last two year. Which are nylon and spandex. My pants get wet pretty much every trip out in the fall from dew or rain. I throw my pants under my legs between the pad and bag if wet. They always come out dry. I have also done this with the Corrugate pants and had zero issues. The thing I like about the nylon pants is how well they breath and there durability!

The corrugate pants run a bit bigger in the waist compared to the Kanab 2.0.

Took them up on a good test this weekend. The fit is somewhat loose through the thigh and somewhat tight on the lower leg. The length a tad short for me on the mediums (I am 6' and normally wear a 32 waist and 34 inseam), although the pants do not ride up at all when bending at the knee due to the stretchiness. They also do not twist or bind in the lower leg when going through thick vegetation. They shed water like a duck during some moderately deep creek crossings. Also liked the pocket design. I would say they are a notch thinner than the KUIU attack pants.

would they be more comparable to the attack or tiburon pant? they look sweet but i dont know how they would handle 90 plus temps. never tried the kanabs because they would get shredded where im at.

I would say they would be a little warm for 90 plus.

Yes, they would be warm in those temps without a doubt. IMO they don't breath as well as Attacks. Weight wise, they are most similar to the Attacks and Sitka Ascents.

I like the fit. The XL's fit me perfect - 38 waist - 6'2 240. I like these pants a lot, but I need more time in them to decide whether I like them better than Attacks or Sitka Ascents.

My favorite early season pants hands down. Really breathable and comfy. I wear 34x30 and mediums fit snug but the stretch makes them perfect.

What kind of difference would I see between the kanab and corrugate? I've got the Kanabs from last year and I like them but am thinking about picking up a second pair since I'll be spending probably twice as much time in the hills this fall.

At my local shop, Gannett Ridge, one of the owners showed me something pretty neat about the Guides. He held the end of a leg under the bathroom faucet for about 30 seconds. It was dry to the touch when he removed it. I couldn't tell that it had absorbed any water at all. Thinking about a move away from Sitka to Fusion this fall, at least for archery season.

Ok so I did 6 miles in them last evening and fhe just short of 18 miles through some nasty stuff today. Love these pants. They are tough - no issues even though I climb through dead fall and thick brush most of the day. They are very light and stretch in all the right places.

I will say they tend to stretch out at the waste a bit. I bought the medium, my waste is 32-33. The next pair I will buy small.
