First Coue's Deer

Got my first Coue's deer this past weekend in Southeast Arizona. It was a special hunt as I was able to talk my dad in to coming out with me as we mainly hunted scrape lines. The rut was on the cusp of breaking. On our last full day a doe, 8 pt, and 5 pt came in. The 8 pt was really working the scrapes but I never could get a clean shot. He kept chasing the doe around or the 5 pt away from the doe. Finally he gave me an opening and I was so excisted and nervous that I completely blew the shot and missed. He ran off and then came back to get the doe. I got the 5 pt as a consolation prize about 2 minutes later. Not the biggest buck in the woods but one I am very proud of. Its really funny to me that my favorite animals are actually some of the smaller ones I have shot, but the trip and adventure to get them were the hardest!

i will be in AZ last week. had to squeeze it in. brother had shoulder surgery..work, wife..GAH!! wife is not stoked..i am missing an important family dinner..hahah..

chinese new year dinner. i'll do four days or so solo, and then my brother will show up. he may not hunt.
