First Bull

First thread, mostly a lurker. Got my first elk this year after moving to NM in 2020.

After months of scouting, I had opening day success! Long story short, I called in my bull and made a 56 yard heart shot. Full pass through, hardly reacted to the shot. He took two steps and rolled downhill. Rained on us all night. Tough, rainy pack-out with flooding.

Sure did! I also process all my own meat. The skull is still hanging out in the garage with a couple of others I still need finish up..
