Hoyt Super Slam Supreme. Gray chameleon camo, energy wheels. *of course i removed the grip shell. I think I was slinging XX75 autumn oranges before stepping up to the XX78's. Thunderheads were all the rage. I can still picture the box they came in.

I can still remember the feeling of being 14 or 15 and having my first bow. It hasn't felt the same since. Archery felt different back then but then again maybe it was just because I was a youngin and it was all new.

What was your first bow?

Single cam? From what I remember didn't they come in dual and single cam? I setup quite a few of those. A lot of those PSE Carrolls also.

I always remember those High Country's to be really loud. They had a wicked hatchet cam.

Do you want to include my Bear recurve?

If you mean cam driven bows, I think that would have been my Martin DynaBo.
What a speed demon that was @ 250 FPS!!!!!!
Love that bow and shot a sweet P&Y 6X6 with it! Actually got it down and shot just last fall.

Oneida areoforce; I’ve never shot a bow as well as I did that thing.
You guys are stirring up good memories for me. I always loved the way Oneidas look. Also....Oneidas in those days shot with so much less vibration than other bows at the time from what I recall. I think they were just too different to most.

I just did a string replacement on that exact bow this morning.

Mine was a crappy PSE Nova. Didn't survive one elk season before it blew up.

Actually I shouldn't say that. It will kill just as good. Plus it's awesome to see your arrow in flight.

My first bow was in the late 80s a Stemmler, had a wood riser. It blew up before I could hunt with it, shortly after Browning with a wooden riser. Use that to kill my first deer in 1990, you had to be 14 in NY to bowhunt with an adult. I didnt have an adult to bowhunt with so I just went on my own. Next was a browning midas hunter...then a whole string of bows after that, PSE, Golden Eagle, High countrys.....

For compounds. 70's Indian Golden Commanche. I still have the one page owners manual somewhere.
Shooting fingers using browning fiberglass arrows with feathers. Canted the bow and shot off the riser.
First year, a 6 pointer walked within 15 yards, I guess he had never seen a tree move so fast. Bear razor head knocked him down.
Back then, I am not sure there was an archery shop in my county.
Bow got stolen from my barn and I did not miss it.
Archery has come a long way.

Mine was a Browning Cobra. If I remember right, it was essentially a one piece recurve with cams.

Bear Whitetail hunter, don’t have enough fingers to count the number of deer that I missed with that fine shooter
