First backcountry buck

Utah general muzzleloader deer. First deer in the backcountry as well. Feeling very blessed for this experience. I’m hooked on backcountry hunting!

Glassed him just after noon in some thick timber, was feeding his way to his afternoon bed.

After a 90 minute stalk through deadfall timber and I was lucky enough to connect with him. 128 yard shot

Great buck and what a memorable hunt! That's encouraging to see, the deer herd in the unit I hunt in UT was completely decimated this winter. I've never seen it so bad and it will be a long time before it recovers. Count your blessings folks.
