First Archery Elk Hunt

Was planning on going OTC this in Colorado last year and ended up having a newborn the week I was supposed to go. I know they went away with OTC in Colorado. So my question is what state can I get a guaranteed archery hunt in. I would prefer Colorado since I live closest to there but any other options ?

Still easy to get a tag in CO. MT has decent odds for 0 pts. I think Idaho's otc are already sold, but UT has some too. You could simultaneously Roll the dice on NM

CO probably still your best bet, not general but I doubt it will be hard to get tags. NM is a great option.

For a bull I would say CO. Start putting in for other states tho. You can get cow tags easier if you’re looking to fill the freezer.

Colorado will be the highest odds for a tag but Montana isn't bad either (~50% with 0 points). I went on my first archery elk hunt last season and saw tons of elk in the unit I hunted in Montana. Wasn't able to connect but I got VERY close on countless occasions (within 30 yards once and within 80 yards three times).
