Last year I took a nice Black bear and had my sights set on a Interior Grizzly this year. Saturday evening it all came together for me and I harvested a nice big headed old Sow. She walked in like she owned the place. I took her at 30 YDS with my Browning X-Bolt .300 RUM with a 220 GR Hornady Precision Hunter Round. 1 shot was all it took, she was dead in 15-20 seconds tops. She measured about 7' and had a 23.5" Skull. Interesting part was she was eith born like this or was hit by a car, kicked by a moose or attacked by another bear at some point in her life. Her skull is deformed, nose all twisted sideways and her lower jaw is longer than her upper like a bulldogs. Anyway it was an awesome night!.

Im not sure what she weighed but for reference I am 6'2" and 265 Lbs. Im guessing she's at least twice my weight. Such impressive animals and by standards she's not even classified as a BIG Alaska Bear, I cannot imagine the 9-10 footers on Kodiak!

Thanks everyone for the nice words!. Yeah I feel blessed to have taken such a unique and powerful animal. To the guys commenting that they wish to take a Grizz someday or hope this year is "The year" I would just encourage everyone to not ever give up and to just keep working hard at it. Anything worth having takes work to obtain. I have been seriously Bear hunting for 4 years now, my first 2 years was mistake after mistake and I walked, sat, baited for what seemed like hundreds of hours and many miles. So many all night sits, so mauch gas $ and miles on my truck, so many dissapointed walks back out to my truck empty handed. Last year I got my first Black bear, this year worked out for me also, but geez its taken awhile to put it all together. Keep at it fellas!.

Congrats on the hunt, definitely a unique skull! The key part of a good bear story is that since you don't know for sure what happened to her skull, it was definitely a kick from an angry moose. :)

Well what REALLY happened was that after the first shot my gun jammed so as a final death blow I had to roundhouse kick her in the side of the head, hence the skull deformity.......if we're being honest. :)

Im sure you had the whole thing filming on your go pro, but once you finally killed the bear, you realized you forgot to hit record... :)
