A different debate but a revolver has more open spaces for crap to get in and stop the cylinder from turning.

I see a lot of guys recommending the G20 10mm. Does anyone carry the G29? I've actually been really considering that over the 20 due to it being more of a compact concealable firearm. Just curious why the full size over the compact.

The G29 is too small for my hands, as are most compacts. The G20 fits like an extension of my hand. First time I picked it up it was like........"Oh ya, this is absolutely the one". And while I carry concealed all the time in CO, it is not concealed while I'm hunting.

I bought a Springfield XD-S .45 for this very purpose. I picked up an Alien Gear OWB to attach to my pack but the holster hasn't worked well. Can't get enough tension to keep the gun from falling out when taking my pack off and on. I just know I will not notice it fall out one day and lose my handgun. I'll be making changes to that setup this off-season.

I have the xd .40. Check out the Bianchi UMH - I picked one up based on a tip on here and havent looked back.

Glock 19 never leaves my hip. Not the lightest carry option but I wear it everyday and I forget that I even have it on.

I agree with the Glock 20...it is just easy to shoot for me, even after long periods of not shooting it. It also is very tolerant of the elements and easy to maintain...easier to maintain than a revolver in extreme elements I have been told. Go to a shop with a pistol range and shoot a few different platforms to see what is most comfortable for you.

Another fan of the Glock 20 here. I have carried it as a bear backup in Alaska. Not too big or heavy while toting a bow and you can get a lot of lead down range quickly. I prefer the 230 grain hard cast Buffalo Bore's. I have the SF model which is slightly down sized from the full size version. Also the Glock reliability in extreme wet is second to none.

Haven't had any experience with Glock but that Glock 20 is looking like a great choice for black bear and less. Do you guys shoot the hot buffalo bore rounds out of a stock pistol, or are you upgrading springs and or barrels? I think I would have more confidence in that round than my 9 mm!

I upgrade the sights and picked up a Lone Wolf barrel. Read somewhere it worked better with the Hardcast lead bullets. I use Double Tap 200 gr loads. My buddy has a great 10mm load worked up and that is what we run with. Have not messed with the spring yet, but it's on my list, but the factory one seems to be working just fine.

Cory,

I did not upgrade, just shoot the hot loads out of stock barrel/springs. There has been rumors that the poly barrels in Glock wont handle lead bullets. This is far from correct works fine. Buffalo Bore lead loads are hard cast which is less fowling than any soft lead.

Looking like I just found a little something to spend some of my tax return on! Besides one more weapon won't hurt, right? I can already here her now "like you really need another gun"! I'll tell her it's for a backup gun for the mountain hunting and she'll get over it. Might cost me a trip to the salon though, good trade off as I see it.
