Well guys I finally was able to pull the trigger on a high-end pack. It was a long tedious search, but the desicon came fast once I seen the Serac 1700 released by stone glacier. It seems perfect for my day hunts here in Nebraska chasing them Sandhills muleys, then packing them fat quarters out. I previsiously owned an Eberlestock X2 and was a great pack but lacked load lifting abilities. Needless to say it was sold with lots of other gear to pay for the SG. I trust I bought a high quality product that will last many years. My plan is to day hunt the prairies with the Serac then add a dry bag or possibly solo or sky bag later when I chase them elk in the Rockies. Well anyways just thought I'd let you all know my excitement.

Thanks!

Good for you. I am debating between a SG solo or approach or an EXO 3500. I am leaning hard towards a SG bag but which one?

I was between exo, sg, and kifaru. Exo had pockets and organization, kifaru had brand recondition and quality. Why SG won to me was the clean look, affordable accessories, quality and customer service, and the ability to haul meat between frame and bag. I think if your wanting a 3500 cu bag you can't beat the Solo. If I'm not mistaking I think the exo and sg are priced the same.

Which one depends on what you need it for. Muddy will have a perfect setup for day hunting and hauling. If you plan on carrying enough stuff for 1+ days, you'll need some sort of bag to put it in. Now you could get the Approach and use a dry bag between it and the frame and be fine. But it's more difficult that way if you also want to pack out a meat load with your camp. If you want to be able to pack your camp and a meat load, the Solo or bigger bag is the way to go. However, you sacrifice a little bit of organization that way for daypack hunting.

Or you get the Approach and Solo. I have the Approach and Skyarcher. I sold the Solo, it's just a tad bit small for all my oversized gear and more than a few days outing.

I had the x2 last year for elk and mule deer out here in utah. upgraded to a SG sky archer 6200 about 3 months ago. its night and day difference. Ive been on quite a few 10 mile hikes with 50lbs with zero shoulder or neck pain. I was amazed! Great choice!

I'm interested to hear what you think when it comes in. I've been weighing bag options for weeks and the serac is on the top of the list right now.

you will truly enjoy it. I havnt been on in awhile to post pictures and a review, but it has been everything I could ask for in a day to 3 day pack.

I returned my Serac as I thought it was to small. After buying the Approach and a Sky 5100. I returned them both and repurchased the serac! Think I can make it work for a nice day pack. I am praying SG thinks outside their box and makes a bag with pockets??? If not I will get a Sky Archer for the season.

Lack of exterior pockets is really my only hang up.

Kifaru was hell bent on no pockets too. If not for Aron they may have never opened up the options book. Hopefully SG will offer stuff some day? Greater options for the customer results in greater profits and stronger business. I really like the SG frame, fit, and awesome comfort. My Sky5100 is nice but so lacking in features for my taste.
