Get a pot to cook it outside. After skinning the head, remove most of the meat, eyes, and jaw bone. Bring the pot to boiling then back it off the simmer just below boiling. Drop the head in, cook for about 40-45 min. Use a power washer while it’s still hot, it will blow all the meat off and leave very little to scrape with a knife.

Here is a little stand I’m working on now for a whitey. Pretty easy, cheap display.

Your first buck is always worth saving!

Great advice on the skull from the group. To the original poster, where did you get this deer on March 15th? I need to look into that location as a new draw opportunity.

Also, did you decide to give up your muzzleloader hunt? Your thread from earlier this week mentions a muzzy hunt. Is that a new kind of muzzleloader in the picture? Let us know the make and where you bought it.

I boil my skulls to get some of the bigger meat off and then I bury them in the garden for the winter to let the bugs go to work. Cover with some sort of wire fencing to keep critters off the antlers. I also put black trash bags over the top, stapled down. This helps keep the dirt warm and the bugs munchin'

This had me scratching my head too. I was thinking he was using "just" , as in I "just" shot a buck, the same way my wife uses "just". As in.... you "just" bought a new bow. Well yeah..... I did " just" buy one. In October. And I'm "just" about to buy another one. Who knows? Bad ass muzzleloader though......

Congrats, key is to get all the skin off and as much meat as you can before boiling. Saves a lot of boil time
