Hey there,

Recently put in an order for a Fierce MTN Reaper and was curious what people had used for their scope mounting equipment as I do not have the rifle in hand. I plan to use a NX8 4-32x50. What height rings are needed to clear the objective? I was looking at a cantilever mount for it, seems like it will work but the scope will be 1.5 high and limited on how far back it can go. Just curious what people prefer. Thanks

I prefer the Nightforce Ultralight rings, 4 screw. I’ve never had them slip when torqued to 25” pounds. The X-High should easily clear. The Highs might work, but I’ve found having a higher mount helps when trying to shoot from weird positions.

I also really like those rings. Do you have any experience with chassis bolt guns? Would the ultra mount work good? Or am I better off with ultralite rings.

If you look in my avatar, it’s one of my MPA Matrix Pro II chassis rifles. I shoot chassis rifles a lot. I’m usually mounting ATACR’s though with a 56mm objective. I personally don’t love one piece mounts, but that’s a very personal choice. I like the clean look of rings instead of one piece or cantilever mounts, but again to each their own. Whichever you go with, I think the highs will probably work, but the extra highs will give you the height to make it easier to get into the rifle when in weird positions. One of the positions I’m talking about is if you’re shooting up and across a valley from one hillside, while your body is actually angled downhill. When faced with something like that where it’s tough to get down on the rifle, the extra height is nice. I don’t like the way it looks as much, but I find it functionality easier in most positions to get behind the scope quicker, with a full open view.
