i'll add a couple pics in a bit. short story is that it's a nice firearm. the stock handles recoil well and feels subjectively solid to me. the palm swell fits nice and the higher comb is appreciated. the radial brake helps with muzzle flip but doesn't dramatically reduce the recoil of the 7mm mag. it really is softer that my tikka 270 wsm with a comparable charge and bullet weight when both firearms are unbraked. i attribute that to the extra weight and quality stock. the action is a bit tight and may need to be run with a bit of lube to be as smooth as some others on the market. the bolt lift after dry firing takes a bit extra effort than i'm used to as well. it seems that resetting the trigger takes some work. i hope to remedy that by swapping the trigger out for a timney or even a factory tikka trigger if they match up. there is no way to tell if the factory fierce trigger will break at 2 lbs or 3.5lbs. during dryfire testing i got a .5lb variance but during live fire it became apparent that the variance was much worse. no creep was felt but it sure seemed as if the safety was still on until you gave up and punched it. i haven't encountered such an unpredictable trigger since some of the cruddy older remington's i used to own.

even with the poor trigger performance i was able to see the accuracy potential with factory ammo (160 nosler accubond). i pulled a couple shots but 4 of them were nice and tight. i was even able to dial a few shots on steel out at 500 yards after estimating a 200 yard zero. i'm pleased with the rifle so far but feel the trigger is nothing like the 300 win i felt in store. that one appeared to be consistent. i may call fierce and see if they have any thoughts on it before i swap it out. since they are only an hour away i may just take it by to them.

i may end up going back for the 300 win before it's all over. the way this stock handles recoil i just might sell my mark v 300 and 340 wby's for it.

A couple more pics. Always fun to find out you didn't miss and your hole just got a tiny bit bigger.

I encounter the same bolt lift as you do. Maybe time will break it in. Hopefully you can adjust and fix the trigger issue you have. Have you tried calling Fierce?

Hundred yard paper with 1.7" high. It allows me to dial out from there. I'll actually zero it when I'm able to shoot at 200 yards but for now that was all that was available to me on short notice.

based on a tip from another site:

"You might try a recommendation I got from Timney when I was experiencing variation in trigger pull weight. They suggested flushing the trigger mechanism with lighter fluid. It worked for me."

well, i tried that and it seems to have worked. here's what it did:

your tip was exactly what it needed. i flushed it multiple times (syringe and lighter fluid) and worked it over for a few minutes while testing it. it measured pulls between 5.5lbs and 2.75 during the first couple minutes. after that i let it sit for 3 hours and then started testing it again. it was now 1.5 lbs to 2 lbs. after working it over some more and resetting the screw i'm now right at 2 lbs to 2.15 lbs. i'll have to keep an eye on it for a while and see if it tightens back up after shooting. if that's the case then it'll need replacement.

so for now i need to eat those words about the horrible trigger. time will tell if it needs to go away.
