Field Judging Mountain Lions (Game Camera)

I got this lion on camera and was wondering if anyone could give some insight based on this picture whether or not this is a female or male and if it’s a medium or large cat. My thought is that with the body making it’s head look small, that it’s a large male cat. I’m only guessing, so I’d like some thoughts and opinions. I’d like to go up there during rifle season after a good blanket of snow and just hunt that area looking for fresh cat tracks and then set up to call it in. I have another picture of what I think is a different cat from several days later on this camera as well that I’ll upload tomorrow. Thanks!

Do you have a picture of anything of a known size, (like you or a buddy walking in the same spot) taken from the same camera?

Yes, good call. I’ll upload a picture of me and a guy that road his ebike through there tomorrow for reference.
