We are thinking about The federal fusion 165 grain in a 300 short mag for elk and would like some feedback on bullet performance. Thanks

Haven’t used on game yet but with the ammo shortage may be packing some 180 gr this year. They pattern well at the range and should work fine with well placed shots.

I've used Fusion in my 6.5 CM only on Whitetail and they have worked great, I've only ever had to use one bullet and the go down. I'd think they would work just fine on Elk with a well good shot placement.

300wsm 180gr Fusion.

I shot an Elk through front shoulder quartering towards....

Not much meat damage at all ...perfect mushroom.

Died at my feet just about as I was to hit him again.

Later that year shot a 47" Bull moose with same round, Bang Flop DRT, through the heart.

Fusion bullets are excellent at close range....

Killed 6 pt last year at 340 yds. 300wsm with 150 grain. Bull rand 20 yards and tipped over. Recovered bullet, perfect mushroom. Way underrated bullet. PS, dont tell anyone.

I have used 150gr fusions in my 308 for many years killing elk, mule deer, whitetail. Very deadly bullet ,but I wouldn't use it to shoot long distances.

I shoot rocks in NM out to 900 yds with it. Extremely accurate. Wont shoot at animals that far though.
