Federal 6.5 Backcountry?

I've been on the fence about reboring a 7-08 that doesn't shoot too well to 358 win for a while to get a short range thumper... if they did 338 Fed +Peak I would rebore to that in a heartbeat. It would make it a long range thumper as well. Imagine 250's close to or at 2700fps, basically a 338 win mag in a short action.

After it flopped the first time, maybe they’ll try v2? Would a cool cartridge, but I’d be shocked if they went with a cartridge that didn’t sell enough volume to stick around the first time.

Yeah good point… would be cool though. Maybe they might care enough to try because it has their name on it… but probably only money/market share would convince them.

Just watched the Backfire interview with Tikka.

No 7BC plans right now
6.5+Peak kinda sounds like they are waiting until at least CIP before starting their own testing
22CM is coming
25CM, they are waiting to see if the market demands it
280AI no plans

Interesting notes:
They had a hard time getting 338Fed to meet their accuracy standard with their ammo
Ace folding stock is coming, no timeline
Sako 7PRC ammo is coming, no timeline
Powerhead Blade Pro ammo is coming to the US, no timeline
300PRC is coming to Sako, Tikka is not compatible
308 is their #1 chambering
No integrated pic rail on the T3x in the plans due to the larger steel stock and extra machining required
They broach the receivers


Also, they have whitetail in Finland.
