Federal 6.5 Backcountry?

That's because half the problem is because its a savage.
Mine runs just fine. Accurate, feeds and extracts without issue, and for a sub $600 rifle is a great value. If someone was adverse to using smaller calibers for big game and only shoots factory ammo the 20" Savage Trophy Trail Hunter Lite would be a great option. Not everyone has the need for a high dollar rifle.

What makes you assume this?

You gotta remember case head diameter of 473 VS 532. They're pretty close to the same.
I disagree, its not as simple as a quick visual comparison. Lets consider that surface area for a circle increases exponentially with radius. Accordingly, a magnum 0.532" bolt face has approximately 26% higher bolt thrust (in ft-lbs) at the same given psi loading as a standard case head. This means a non-trivial 26% more stress on case head face, bolt face, lugs, and receiver ring.

I was inferring magnum 60k psi & peak alloy 80k psi were near the same bolt thrust numbers. You and I are agreeing with the same concept.

In one of the various interviews of Federal PR guys and engineers, they said the technology works best in narrow powder columns like the 7BC has.
