Federal 6.5 Backcountry?

definitely not an engineer but wouldnt faster powders also drop in pressure much faster while still corked?
My smooth brain says with 24" barrel, there would(could? might?) be less pressure at bullet exit with +Peak than brass.

+Peak = more with short barrel, less with long?
Brass = less with short barrel, more with long?

I may be way off

One thing I noticed on the 7BC is that changes in barrel length from 24-16” has less of a change in velocity than I would have expected. I wonder if the 6.5 will be the same.

So that makes me think that the pressure by the time the bullet gets to 16” has dropped off drastically from 80k psi peak levels, possibly to pressure levels below typical brass cartridge.

I think of pressure graphed with respect to time/distance as the bullet moves down the barrel. So my hypothesis is the with the federal peak case is it rises fast early, then comes crashing down fast, maybe even below conventional levels by 16”.

Have you personally ever killed any moose...in your life?
I have personally killed them with 6.5cm. They don't have body armor. In fact, save caribou, they have to be the easiest thing to kill in this state. Massive vitals. Not really that thick. They stand there and just take things. No matter what you shoot them with, unless it's a CNS hit, they're going to stand there until the blood pressure drops and the lights go out. Sometimes they slowly go towards the nearest water, but most of the time they just stand there. 22 ARC, 375 ruger. Exact same outcome.

I live in Hawaii. Places don’t ship ammo to Hawai’i. Midway just started to apparently so will be doing that from now on. I normally have to order through my ffl and pay ridiculous prices in shipping/hazmat plus the increase in the ammo price ( 147s are 55 a box now).
Here in AK we have a couple freight forwarders in WA we can ground ship things to and they bring them up by boat rather inexpensively. Does HI not have a similar service?

I saw that email-curious to see total cost. Probably going to sting!

Cube root law of volumetric gas expansion:

Real life example: my 18” 6.5 creed. If I shoot without a suppressor, I get headaches and brain fog after 3 shots.
24” 6.5 creed shooting same load unsuppressed: I’m good for about 10-15 shots before feeling concussed.
Im not arguing the physics, just saying that you are arguing an academic non issue as most people will run a can and/or hearing protection with short 6.5CM, and folks are shooting bigger calibers with far more muzzle blast. Also, and please stop experimenting on yourself, I'm worried for your well being.

KYGunco has +Peak 153 TMK for $40.99/box with $63 shipping to AK, not bad when you order 10 boxes 😎

I think this nicely summarizes where we've ended up in this discussion... cant wait to get some actual hands-on reports for the production ammo.
