Federal 6.5 Backcountry?

Just ran some numbers.

270 145 ELDx, assuming 2950fps brass and 3200 +Peak and the "magic" 1500ft/lbs for elk thing(not saying its true, just using it for a benchmark)

max range for brass is 450yds
max range for +Peak is 575yds and 6.5" less drop @450yds

Honestly its pretty exciting to see where this goes.

Guys, just look at Proof’s new PXT lineup in barrel blank calibers- that’s the runway for the next +peak factory loadings. I believe there is some collaboration here. Sadly no 6mm.

Will most actions handle 80k psi just fine?
They do have a caveat that it is not to be used in break-actions like the CVA(IDK if its all break-actions or just the CVA)
When 7BC was launched, Federal said theres no difference in the rifle. Because they are releasing this for what started as a brass cartridge, you can be sure that the lawyers have had all their slimy hands in this and are satisfied, which likely means there is still a significant margin of overhead in strength @80k

Really breathes new life into the 6.5 Creed vs The World debates… Haters still gonna hate but to me, seems like the optimal one and done.
Also opens to door to practice with cheaper standard pressure stuff, and then fine tune with the high pressure ammo right before the season and hunt with it.

And the 6.5 CM isn't? They're in the business to make money, not cartridge drama like consumers are. There's a heck of a lot of 6.5 PRC owners to sell ammo to, chances are they'll make them sooner or later.

I'm not saying they wont, I'm just not convinced that it's a priority. From my understanding, the idea for the 7BC was to match/beat 7PRC in a shorter barrel.

The 6.5CM is a wildly popular cartridge which had room for improvement. It's the perfect platform for chasing the PRC benchmark. I would imagine a 30cal version would be chasing the 300PRC as well.

I don’t have the skill to take advantage of the distance that regular 6.5 creed cases will get a bullet to anyway, but a lot of the naysayers will be excited about “energy” and that nonsense. Gonna sell like hotcakes.

Would need to be in a bigger case probably just like the 7 BC is a bigger case than the 6.5 peak+.

Backcountry Hunting Podcast tested these out. I'm not familiar with him so don't come down too hard on me but he got a high of near 3150FPS with the 130 Terminal Ascent out of a Tikka Ace. That is smoking out of a 6.5Creedmoor.

The more I think about it, it seems like it would have to be a long action similar to 7BC. If it was a creedmor sized case in the peak alloy it seems like it would just match the 6.5 prc then what is the benefit over the prc. It seems like it would have to outperform the 6.5prc for anyone to want to try it. Maybe I’m off just my thoughts. Something like a 6.5-06 but in peak alloy.
Just saw a video where he got 3100+ with the 130 terminal ascent.

I've got a long barrel 8-twist 6CM, and was thinking about doing a new build in 6.5PRC for a short, fast-twist option to throw large copper solids downrange reeeeeally fast.
Does this new advancement mean that it's possibly easier to just rebarrel the 6.5CM with similar results? Or still worth it to go PRC while we are waiting on this to actually become available?
